Comodo's new on-demand scanner can be used alomgside any existing anti-virus software to ensure your PC stays free from infection at all times. The program doesn't require installation and can be run from a USB flash drive. The main menu gives you three choices - you can run a full scan a custom scan or open the KillSwitch. If you suspect your computer might be infected you should start with a full scan. The process is very thorough and takes a while to complete. Your system will be rebooted automatically to allow the software to check for rootkits. A custom scan is quicker and lets you choose specific areas to target. These options include your PC's memory on start-up, critical system settings and hiddeb Registry entries. You can also specify which drives, folders or files to scan. The KillSwitch window lets you view, suspend, terminate or rename potetially suspicious running processes. If you  are not sure what you are looking for, the program can filter the process list for you and only display unknown or unsafe entries. Tabs at the top of the screen also give you access to services, network traffic, BHOs ( Browser Helper Objects ) and LSPs ( Layered Service Providers ) and you can manipulate the items in various ways. Comodo Cleaning Essentials can be configured by clicking the Tools link at the top of the interface and selecting Options.
