Min requirements: Windows XP / Vista / 7
File size: 2.2MB

Windows comes with its own disk-defragmentation tool but there are plenty of better third-party options available for free. Glarysoft's Disk SpeedUp can analyse defrag and optimise your hard disk's to improve your PC's performace. Just select the drives to target and choose which action to take. You can pause or end the defragging process at any time. Tabs at the bottom of the interface provide a general overview and show you which files are fragmented on which drives and how many picese they are split into. You can defrag a disk on demand or use a handy auto-defrag feature that will optimise your drive during idle moments. The program can be scheduled to run at a set time and frequency to defrag the entire hard disk or target individual files and folders. The Settings tab in Glarysoft Disk SpeedUp gives you a wealth of options. Under General you can choose to have the program start along with Windows and add a Disk SpeedUp entry to the right-click context menu. You can also opt to have the program defrag more than one drive simultaneously and change the disk map colour scheme. The Defrag option lets you set the minimum and maximum file size to target while Optimize lets you choose which files to move to the slow end of the disk. If there is a partiicular file type or folder that you want the software to ignore (large video clips for exam) you can add it to the Excludes list.
